About Us

UC Irvine's Department of Neurological Surgery is at the forefront of clinical treatment, educational programs and neurosurgical research.

Our neurosurgeons, working at Orange County's only university hospital, are committed to providing care to patients with a wide range of neurosurgical conditions, including spinal disorders, traumatic brain injury and trigeminal neuralgia. They also perform advanced radiosurgical procedures with the latest technologies using the Cyberknife™ and the Gamma Knife®.

Our faculty surgeons also have extensive experience in minimally invasive spinal surgery and microsurgery for the treatment of epilepsy, movement disorders, pain and stroke, as well as brain tumors and intracranial aneurysms.

Department faculty members' research programs include collaborations with other medical research organizations, such as UC Irvine's Reeve-Irvine Research Center, a prominent group of scientists working to find new treatments for spinal cord injury.

The department also has a fully accredited residency program offering a wide variety of clinical activities and extensive training at multiple sites, including UC Irvine Medical Center, CHOC Children’s Hospital, Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Anaheim and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach.
